Re: Port of Peril

Yep agree the small images are the worst of it. Pen and ink illustrations just look better for black and white than something done in colour and then greyscaled. Don't know what they were thinking.

Re: Port of Peril

My copy finished making it's way down under today. I'd say the art is more unsuitable than bad, it's very cartoony. But I'm still hoping it really is written by Ian and he had time to give us another like the classics.

Re: Port of Peril

The art was always such an intrinsic part of the atmosphere Especially with the earlier books in the series the art really was excellent and like you say added so much to the experience. I Never understood why they feel the art needs changing for new editions. But I have ordered a copy of Port of P...

Re: New adventure - Holy Order. Files and report.

Had a quick look around the Red Dice Diaries blog linked on the old post above this and found an audio interview with Graham talking about his game design and publishing philosophy. Worth a listen. http://reddicediaries.com/uncategorized/video-rpg-rpg-interview-graham-bottley/

Re: heritage adventures

There is a version of the Well in the original rulebook. It would be good to do Shagrad's Hives of Peril and the AFF1 adventures. Yep I'd like to see something done with The Well and Shagrad's Hives of Peril from FF The Introductory Roleplaying Game too. But I'd keep those separate from the AFF1 ad...

Re: Some houserules

It's probably better to only apply the SKILL based cap to Weapon Special Skills. Here's the thing, a strength of the AFF2 character system is you can write up a NPC that has low SKILL and STAMINA (no adventuring/combat experience) but is very strong in one or more special skills. That lets you have ...

Ah yeah they do look a lot like Fimir too, the nose is more like a long snout than a beak.

Re: What to see in new books

Welcome to the forums! I reckon a book that put together the magical items from all the FF gamebooks would be a great idea. The Pit books did that with creatures, and now the Titan Herbal with plants! There's actually a lot of the magic items from the books written up here already so that'd be a goo...

Back to the Pit would actually be pretty good. Or maybe Return to the Pit to make the acronyms easy to tell apart; OotP, BtP, RttP!

Re: heritage adventures

It would be great, in my opinion, to pull them together in a dedicate publication. Yep agree. In fact from the bits I've read I'd be keener to see the adventures from the three AFF1 books reworked into a campaign and republished than The Riddling Reaver (although something interesting could be done...

Re: Borrowings from The Dark Crystal movie?

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the movie was the inspiration for those FF creatures, the dates work. The Dark Crystal was released in 82, the same year as the WoFTM gamebook, and the other books were obviously after that. It's been a long time since I've watched the movie, but from memory the Ske...

Re: Advanced Fighting Fantasy Minis!!!

I have some ideas for what that could be called ;)

1. Way Past the Pit
2. I Can Barely See the Pit
3. The Pit's Around Here Somewhere

Not sure when it changed from the first plan to the new one but seems like a good way to go.

Re: Titan 2

Wasn't the plan to instead produce a series of gazetteers that each cover a more limited area, the first being the Old World one?

Re: Some houserules

they have luck as an attribute and sometimes luck tests can be modified by other attributes. Good to have a mechanic for where it's mostly about luck but a bit of skill comes into it too, like the library example. I can only see Dodge applying (tested directly or modifying a luck test) where it's s...
