That's an interesting idea.

Another thought is allow magic users to cast "meta" spells that modify the range, duration, or potency of other spells being cast.

"Teleport" would allow the spellcaster to escape bondage in seconds unless the GM ruled the spell requires hand gestures and a vocal component. I've noticed that many monsters listed in the in the AFF Core rulebook do not have a Luck score. The rules suggest the GM use the monster's Skill score when rolling to resist a spell cast on them. Ok, that makes sense. Wow, 2 x (MAGIC + number of points in magic - wizardry) is a lot of magic spells for a starter wizard, but it does compensate for the lower Skill rating, especially if a player dumps 7 points into Magic.

Regarding the shield modifiers, my thoughts are that given two combatants with identical skill scores, special skills & talents, the combatant who is wielding a sword and a shield will have an advantage over the one armed solely with a sword. ...

Page 72 of the AFF Core rulebook states "A Wizard will start play knowing only a few spells, and even those are of the lower tiers of power."

What is the recommended number of spells the Director ought to let the Wizard know at the start of play, and which rank?
