Re: Out of the pit 3

Hey, thanks for all the feedback! :-) OOTP3 is still chugging along and has turned into a bit of a beast itself at 90K words and counting. I'm currently working on the Encounter Tables, and I have about 10 monster descriptions to go. Of course I saved the most difficult and convoluted to describe un...

Re: The Ciarensian Campaign

Yes, that's a cool idea about the Baboons. We have lots of them here in Saudi Arabia and they are definitely animals to approach with caution! Here's another holiday special: Sapphire City Prospectors Sapphire City is a prosperous township on the southern edge of the Desert of Skulls, reached by the...

Re: The Ciarensian Campaign

Apemen Brutal subhuman primitives stalk these marginal lands, driven from more fertile territory by technologically advanced neighbours. Out here in the wilderness they eke out a tenuous paw-to-maw existence, hostile to all newcomers but especially the humans who torment them and the Caarth who ens...

Re: The Ciarensian Campaign

True. I've just used the original SKILL and STAMINA scores from the Clash of the Princes gamebooks (I think it's in The Warrior's Way ) and because they fit in with the other Giants' combat scores from Out of the Pit . Personally, I prefer quick and fast fights over realism, so I tend to use the sco...

Re: The Ciarensian Campaign

Finally got around to writing some more info: Monster Trappers While it is true that the wilds of Allansia are full of powerful and deadly monsters, it is also true that many of these creatures possess ivory horns and claws, strange glands and organs, and beautiful pelts and skins, that are all intr...

Re: The Ciarensian Campaign (Actual Play Thread)

Yep, will post it when they adventurer through it. Unfortunately it's spring break, so we probably won't get back into it for another 3 weeks or so. This was just an intro session to see if us old folk could still participate in an RPG session and I guess the answer was a resounding yes! Stay tuned...

Re: Iron Age AFF (in progress)

Cool! Paul Elliot wrote some Roman Empire rules for the first edition of AFF way back on one of the old FF websites here:

The Ciarensian Campaign (Actual Play Thread)

So I convened a group of adventurers to partake in the Ciarensian Campaign which I have been developing here: http://www.arion-games.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2268 (Disclaimer: this was the first time many of the people present had played a FRPG in like 20 years or so) Cast of adventurers: Binhame...

Re: Out of the pit 3

Apologies, OOTP 3 is not quite finished yet. In real life I coach a womens football team here in Saudi Arabia and the season just finished, which was taking up a lot of my time. Now that it's over until next year I can get back to completing OOTP3. I've got around 20 monsters to go, I think. This is...

Re: The Ciarensian Campaign

Monsters There are several powerful monsters in the region, whom, together with whatever followers they have managed to accrue, are capable of forming political factions in their own right. The Doom Demon (Originally by Andrew Mayo from Warlock Magazine Issue #3. The below text is taken from the fo...

Factional Notes Note that the head(s) or leader(s) of each faction or part of a faction are powerful characters in their own right, and should be created as per a special enemy (see Advanced Fighting Fantasy , p. 121) or a protagonist (see Advanced Fighting Fantasy , pp. 132-133). In addition, each...

Re: The Ciarensian Campaign

The Cult of the Spider God This region of Allansia has long been a centre of worship for Arhallogen the Spider God. His cult was strongest in ancient Djaratian times, and its successor states such as Vatos, and spread to the natives of the southern jungles as well as to more cultured lands such as ...

Re: The Ciarensian Campaign

Desert Nomads (Abridged and expanded from Beyond the Pit (p. 96)) Some historians say that all NOMADS are descended from the Halfhand brothers, those legendary chieftains who cut a bloody swathe through the steppes and plains of Irritaria, the First Continent. When Irritaria was torn asunder into A...
