Re: Whats everyone playing at them moment?

I will work out how to do google docs at some point. at the moment i'm struggling with two things: 1 maps, just the doing them in a way that can be uploaded 2 the fact that I write up roughly 75% but leave the rest "to be confirmed" in case odd things happen in character gen. if everyone d...

Re: Whats everyone playing at them moment?

not playing RPG's right now, sadly. technically got an ongoing DND 4E rules system game playing in the WFRP world, but not played a session in over a year on that (player has new GF, she is interested in playing, I think DM is less keen on idea and for this reason game isn't happening now. could be ...

Re: Do any of you still play AFF 1E (Dungeoneer) ?

on the original question i wouldn't play the original again. there are just so many skills that were plain broken and as time went on the list grew in a way that was not adding to the game. strength, magic (just 1 point), awareness, excellent hearing and vision, dark vision are just a few of the ski...

Re: Confused about selecting special skills

To muddy things further, the pre-generated characters in the book only have 3-6 skills and there's only 8 skill slots on the character sheets. I'm slightly inclined to go with 9, but what does everyone else reckon? welcome! are you looking at the pre-gens on p19-21 or 35-45? because I think the for...

Re: Monster Equipment

i think practically that the effort in melting down sub-par weapons and armour is more effort and less cost effective than just buying new metal from the mines/merchants. so the return on it would be tiny, used primarily to give the apprentices something to work on without ruining quality metal. tha...

Re: Templar Talent

the restriction is each power may be used once. Templar would only have one power and devotion of 5. I think the rule for priests to spend one luck for an extra use would work for a Templar. a normal priest of course has 3 blessings and a god special power (in most cases) which is normally used once...

Templar Talent

so this talent interests me a lot, I can see it having a lot of potential to create an order of followers for a God. I just have one question: it gives one power from the god, typically one of the three blessings listed under the god BUT all gods also give a unique power to their priests too, is thi...

Re: Random Hero Creation Table

but minor magic wouldn't necessarily reflect in a fight anyway: half the goblins you meet could have minor magic but wouldn't use it in a fight after all and that is where you engage with goblins the most. the other thing to bear in mind is that the world of Titan was built around the game books and...

Re: Spellcasting in combat

yes i hadn't really thought about it, I even gave the wizard in my example above 1 point in staff skill for exactly this reason (i'd spend 1 point on staff or another weapon as a wizard: Skill 4 is lower than almost all enemies, whereas 5 is a massive difference as you are at least equal to a goblin...

Re: Spellcasting in combat

that simplification is more complex than the current rules though and entirely benefits the wizard. I wouldn't enable a wizard to dodge: they're grabbing hold of the arcane energies that surround them and bending them to their will, it is enough to give them a penalty to their casting roll, so they'...

Re: Random Hero Creation Table

i like it for someone who doesn't know what they want to play, good work.
I mostly know what I want to play and so do many of my players, but new players (or old "I keep on dying" players) could find it useful

Re: Spellcasting in combat

the order of play in this question is: cast spell, roll to see if it works, resolve spell. if enemy survives they try to hit you, both roll Skill as normal and if they win you get injured, if you win nobody gets hurt. example: wizard Skill 4 staff skill 1 casts a fire bolt at goblin goblin gets to t...

Re: Combat-Related (House) Rules

For anyone who hasn't spotted it, one of the best uses of the fighting defensively option is for a low attack strength character to keep an opponent busy, so their high AS buddy avoids an outnumbering point against them and can get the killing done faster. yup, we had an armoured character who was ...
