Re: Newbee question

I'll chime in with my own question from another not-quite newbie (I've grown up on the German translations of the FF books ...). Still looking for a quick-and-easy but flexible fantasy system, and AFF2 comes surprisingly near to what I imagine. One of my questions: Am i correct that the level of a ...

Thank you Bifford for all that you are doing, understand this is a bit of a learning experience and that you want to get it right. Happy to will send you some things next week. Tried sending you a message but it got stuck in the outbox. Don’t know if messages are still working here. How best to send...

Re: First issue submissions

That’s why I put out these messages. It’s gone a bit quiet with the end of year festivities and it would be great to get things moving again.

I’m working on some things.

First issue submissions

Happy 2020 everyone!

How about we restart our work on the AFF Fanzine? Perhaps we can set a deadline for article entries. End of January?

I’m posting this here and in the AFF forum to get the maximum number of people.

Re: A Solo-Play version would really be great

I’m looking forward to the solo version to but have been playing AFF solo already for years now. I’ve tried all the big names and made a fair few home brew systems. Basically if you want to get your solo fix while waiting for the official solo version to come out then there are a number of options o...

Re: 3D Printed Port Blacksand

That is very nice, great work! Have you thought of painting it?

Even the picture gives a great view on how the city looks so I can imagine it really helped your games.

Re: How about reducing the number of magical styles?

I really like what you’ve started putting together here and hope to see more. This is a great idea because it not only helps give some more form to spell casters without a major set of rule changes it also helps create much more interesting npcs and enemies. We move away from all wizards being a guy...

Re: Non-hero character generation

I had a lot of fun using this in the past, i also modified it slightly to have poor city dwellers as an option as well.

There is something about the zero to hero storyline which grabs me, feels more satisfying somehow than starting off as a ruthlessly efficient killing machine.

Re: Tweaks and clarifications to the new AFF rulebook

You don't want to lose the simplicity of the AFF2 character generation system by trying to make it support starting at any XP you like. What might work is to say the Director can pick one of three starting points; Untrained, Adventurers or Heroes. One of those could be presented as the default the ...

Pitch 1: article giving tips and explanations on how to make great NPC’s (prepared and on the fly) which do more than tick a box but really engage players. Pitch 2: à SA article about running an adventure on a ship, how to design ships and life on them. Taking a closer look at life in stellar navy’s...

Re: Tweaks and clarifications to the new AFF rulebook

This sounds like the ideas which have been suggested in the past for having weaker or pesant adventurers. I like it and agree if you are keeping the starting skill low and a restricted number of points then you also need to reduce skills in the beginning. You could say that a “traditional” starting ...

Re: Mongolia in Titan

If it’s not for the Fanzine then you always have the tribes of the Flatlands in Allansia which are fierce mounted warriors according to Titan. They could be any form of steppe nomads you want from history.

Re: Tweaks and clarifications to the new AFF rulebook

Sure, but it's not just about what would work in your own game. How would you add it to the rulebook so someone new to the game and maybe new to RPGs includes training in a way that makes a difference to how fast the PCs gain AS? It’s not the first time that you have training in the rules in a RPG....
