Re: (Almost) EVERY FORUM RULE!!

You are right Torus. I’ll be applying the following: On a draw both sides hit (1ST damage) Instead of using the damage tables the loser of a round suffers damage equal to the difference between winner and loser. Another one for unopposed (I.e. missile attacks) damage done is equal to how much you pa...

Re: (Almost) EVERY FORUM RULE!!

Some great stuff here, I’m going to start using the alternative damage combat rules straight away.

Re: Free form magic

I am pondering more on the effect of casting time on spell cost/difficulty. Not quite happy with it. Any thoughts would be welcome.

Re: Free form magic

You are right with the reference, that was a big insperation. Here is the background which I shared previously (However use the rules above). It also has a special Oops table which was created in collaboration with some of the fine people here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/rau4cc94hb6rwuy/Philosophical...

Re: Free form magic

Some results of this: Minor magic (I.e. skill level of 1 in Verbs and Nouns) becomes part of a natural continuum of magical ability rather than a separate skill. You can make adventures around learning magical abilities. For example making them search out special forests to enjoy plants, magical poo...

Free form magic

Hi all, I’ve been getting back into the AFF vibe and have been turning my mind once again to the topic of free form magic. Some of you might remember my posts on Philisophical Magic, well I have pondered some more and come up with some improvements. Basic system: Combine Noun and Verb and describe w...

Re: Maelstrom Rome released

I can imagine it’s a serious investment. I’ve finished reading it now and really enjoyed it, I’m by no means an expert on Ancient Rome but certainly feels Roman. Looking forward to my first game!

Re: Maelstrom Rome released

Already got it and enjoying reading, it’s an impressive piece of work from what I can see! Although I prefered is the character artwork in Doomsday.

Re: GMs companion

A GM compagnion would-be an excellent idea. We can use it as an opportunity to bring together all the best ideas which have been debated here. Not as required rules but as a set of ideas.

Re: Night Dragon locations

Sounds like a fun area to do some adventuring, although I can’t imagine how would be best to link the Snow Witch into it. Unless you were starting at Fang and getting information from her dragon before then heading the Dragon Reaches.

Re: Night Dragon locations

Is there any description of Carnex? Because you say Ismater is the last civilised place and that Carnex is north of it, but then say Carnex is the main town.

Or have I missed something?

Re: Night Dragon locations

Just looking at Titanica i got the following since I don’t have the book.

The locations are north of Blacksand, Marzail is a village a few days hard walking north of Blacksand and is half way to Rentarn which is on Corpse Bay. Sharndale is just south of Rentarn.

Re: Night Dragon locations

I don’t know Night Dragon so I can’t help you. Any reason for wanting to fit it in Titan rather than using AFF rules with the alternative setting?

Re: Generating New Place Names

Carsapolis and Salamonis are Greek not Latin ;). In North West Allansia I use Greek for old town names and the. English for newer settlements. I also use Greek for ancient Allansian as discussed elsewhere. For other areas I use the nearby names as a guide for the style of town names, for example in ...
