Re: New stat checks.

I read my post again and realise it came across a bit too hard. For that I apologise, posting and doing housework are not a good combination: focus on one thing at a time or get a familiar! My point was just we need to keep in mind that a lot changed between the original FF books and AFF. The first ...

Re: Downgrading SKILL

I think there is something in this. Perhaps another way to put it is that your starting Skill is your natural ability as an adult which in itself doesn’t change that much. The focus is then as you said on getting special skills abilities to build on it. I would not fix it to 6 for everyone but have ...

Stellar Adventures Deckplans

Hi, Don’t know if you are like me but when building a new ship I want to know how it looks inside, how it really looks. Well now you can! Here an amazing resource of modular deck plans for you to build your ships with. http://travellerrpgblog.blogspot.com/2018/11/starship-geomorph-book-update.html?m...

Re: New stat checks.

The FF books had their rules changing depending on what the particular writer wanted to achieve so you’ll find all sorts of stuff in there and little harmonisation. What’s wrong with the AFF rules as they are? There are some small changes which have been adopted by the community over time but the co...

Re: Elf Abilities.

The list I gave above was only based on Phantom's of Fear. If I added what I got from Titan the list would be a bit longer and somewhat conflicting. I have a problem I'm trying to figure out and deal with right now that goes like this... Elves are pretty much human + . They have better eyesight, be...

Re: Elf Abilities.

SkinnyOrc, great list to start with. Something which was interesting in Titan is that they do not hate anyone. The idea is baffling to them, even with Orcs they are at best neutral to them. This means that things like bearing a grudge or wanting revenge will also be alien concepts to them. They will...

Re: Elf Abilities.

It definitely can be hard to get the culture and ways of thinking of other races across to players. That Defenders of the Forest has a lot of GM info and is probably a bit much to ask a lot of players to read. It'd be great to extract a brief guide to playing an elf out of it and other sources like...

Re: Elf Abilities.

I was looking at OOTP, BTP and Titan and it struck me that Elves really are a varied folk on Titan compared to other fantasy worlds. You have many types of elves adapting to their homes which I think hints at something special for them in Titan compared to other settings. They physically change in q...

Re: Wages and Services

My militiaperson/guardperson (solo-player) on patrol around a village usually gets paid 5cp a day + meals and accomodation. However, using the wages calculations, with a starting SKILL of 6 and a Law Special Skill of 1 (which is the special skill that my guardperson is employed for), I should, in f...

Re: Wages and Services

I would never take the original FF books as a guide on prices, the best price list is in the AFF rulebook itself. The use of copper pieces/pennies is (as far as I’m aware) a commonly accepted modification in the AFF community. But you are right, Titan is a varied place in terms of prices. But that I...

Wages and Services

I’ve been pondering the economics of Titan as a result of my recent delving into Dominions and have come back to something which has been troubling me for a while. Wages and the cost of Services. Taking the wages calculated in the Hirelings chapter of the Hero’s Companion you end up with everyone be...

Re: Elf Abilities.

I wouldn’t fix the nimbleness as part of the outnumbering Rules but instead give a discretionary bonus on the part of the Director when the general grace, agility and balance of an elf would help them. It’s also a strong narrative element which can be used to change how the character behaves and as ...

Re: Making Dominions work

I like this idea and am working on an adapted version of the rules to include it. I don’t want to go too far down the simulationist route and start calculating the exact wealth. Either it’s so generic that it adds little but book keeping (hills + sheep = 1gp, planes + grain = 2gp...) or you end up i...
