Re: Collection of skills, talents, spells and items

Good work!. I reckon one could almost make a Heroes Companion II by collating some of the many ideas posted in these forums!

Re: Ways to harm supernatural creatures without magic weapon

Good ideas. If the GM comes up with a creature the heroes have to harm or kill to progress, he/she had better provide the means to do so also!

I think it's usually a good idea for there to be a couple of ways - e.g. either a magic weapon or sap of a particular plant.

Re: Number of terrains to have lore for?

This seems a reasonable list to me, although I'd be inclined to say Grassland rather than Plains. I'd be tempted to add further specialisations for particular regions, e.g. someone could have Forest Lore 1 (+1 in NW Allansia) or something like that. Everyone starts with regional lore from where they...

Re: The craft skill

I think stewardship should be about the administrative side of things and craft skills the actual product or service. Ideally a successful artisan should have both, and I'd say that's true both for big and small enterprises. In other words I'd make the development of the enterprise depend on the deg...

Re: How does a combat round look like?

I don't know if AFF is right for me. I like the fluff and the fast and loose play but when it comes to combat it should me tight. Everybody should be able to read the rules in the book and not ask the director how combat works. It's the one time the director can take the hands off the steering whee...

Re: How does a combat round look like?

One of the best things about AFF is no initiative rolls. Also the level of abstraction is quite flexible. For example you can have one roll representing everything the hero does in the combat round, e.g. not only the Attack strength but also dodging missile attacks, with appropriate modifiers in eac...

Re: How do you like your npc stats?

Agree with Hullalla. However since the AFF stat block is hardly enormous, I'm very happy to have the whole lot! Just a question of whether you can be bothered to generate the extra stats..

Re: How in depth do you like your shopping lists?

I like short lists with a few unusual & enigmatic items. Just like the lists in the gamebooks.

Maelstrom in Middle-earth

Just picked up the Maelstrom Domesday rules. Very nice indeed. It occurs to me that this may in fact be the perfect system for gaming in Middle-earth, with appropriate extensions for the races & creatures of that world. Wouldn't have to do much to the character generation or Magic rules. Certain...

Re: BODY, MIND & SPIRIT

I actually quite like this, even though it feels like it's moving further away from FF. I'd probably not bother with Thievery and just base the stealth skills on either Athletics or Knowledge.

Re: Your great/funny/odd RPG moments

That's a fantastic story. And what's more, it's exactly the kind of enjoyment that you can never get in one of these so-called story games where people make up the narrative rather than rolling dice. Have to say, it's happened to me more than once that I have a warrior who is all set to run in and d...

Re: Unanswered questions (Potential stories)

To go back to an earlier question. What level of scientific knowledge does Titan have? ... When it comes to the maps, I use traditional mapping methods dated no later than 1500AD, except to check with. At that time there are no complete world maps and Rene Descartes won't invent Cartesian coordinat...
