PDFs and watermarking

Just wanted to say that having the PDFs available on Drivethru is brilliant, something I've been wanting for a while, every since I lent my copy of AFF2 and assorted books to a friend who moved away with them... So this is cool. Just one query though, why do some of the books on Drivethru have water...

Re: How in depth do you like your shopping lists?

My players love shopping for reasons I know not. Anytime they have an excuse to go to town and do some shopping that's my cue to close my books and let them get on with it. We have had many a session just shopping which has prompted me to run small impromtu adventures to add some spice to it (such a...

The third dice…

Using the basic rules as given (and thus not any homebrews at the moment), when most people make their combat rolls, they roll 3d6. 2d6 for their Attack Strength and the additional one for the effect, such as armour or damage. We're trying out a slight variant which can be a lot of fun. What we do i...

Re: Alternative unopposed tests

This is the way we always played it too (haven't played for a little while now), and we dropped the target number to 14 as well, we like consistency! We even went the next step and applied this to Luck as well (even Fear which we introduced). You roll your 2d6 + Luck and if it gets to 14 or more, yo...

Re: Unlabelled map of Allansia

Thanks for your help guys! Yes Mr Nibbs, most definitely something I can use there. Perfectly in fact. I'll scrub off the serial numbers and it'll be great. I *love* that final map! So yep Darksoul, I'll be doing just that. As for decent sized, UK A4 is what I had in mind, so this'll fit the bill a ...

Unlabelled map of Allansia

I'm looking for a decent sized unlabelled map of Allansia that I can give out to players as a handout for them map the cities and villages that they come across. We've started a new campaign which is one of exploration and they want to mark down places visited. But I can't find any decent sized maps...

Re: Are warriors to weak?

What you're talking about Mr Nibbs is also fatigue. Personally, I don't have a problem with warriors because they have skilled themselves up to be able to fight and don't need any additional resources like wizards. However, the longer a fight goes on, the more tired a warrior will be and less effect...

Re: Your House Rules

The House rulings we use include getting rid of a single Skill and instead having a list of Skills. Now you buy each skill separately (we have a nice skill list which includes intelligence style skills, strength and dexterity style so these take the place of characteristics). When you buy your skill...

Re: Monster conversions from the Warlock magazine

Dungeons & Dragons In this system, the number of Hit Dice (HD) a monster has governs its chance of hitting like a SKILL score. To find a SKILL score, divide HD by 2 and add 4. Where HD are shown as X+Y (e.g. 1+1, 6+2, etc.), ignore the second number unless it is over 4, in which case add 1 to the f...

Re: Monster conversions from the Warlock magazine

Sorry, my fault, didn't read the article I copied! ;-) Deriving a STAMINA score from a SKILL score Several systems present problems in calculating STAMINA score. In the notes on Tunnels & Trolls in the last article, I suggested that the STAMINA score will usually be about twice the SKILL score. Whil...

Re: Monster conversions from the Warlock magazine

Hope this helps, my Warlock 9 eludes me at the moment, hopefully I'll find it for you tomorrow! This is quoted text. Cretan Chronicles This series uses Might and Protection attributes in combat; the first reflects offensive skill and the second defensive skill. You can get a usable SKILL score by av...

Re: Simple proposal for managing weapon and armor rolls

The problem you have here is that if you use the same dice for attacking and also for damage/armour rolls, then against tougher opponents you will always cause greater damage. For example, against tougher monsters you'll need to roll higher to hit them meaning that you have to roll high numbers. Whi...
