Re: Dark Seeing

Hey! Good to have you back here by the way :) If I had to guess I'd say the idea Elves can also see in the dark came from something written by Tolkien about them frolicking in the moonlight. As far as 2 goes I might agree with the disagreement, just from the point of view of it's probably not worth ...

Re: AFF on YouTube

Nice work! I'm amazed by anyone that can talk in front of a camera and keep it making sense for that long :)

Dark Seeing

I've been thinking about the Dark Seeing talent (more a racial ability really as you can't learn it). It's probably something that often gets glossed over in games. What got me on to it was finding this quote by Eric Holmes on a web page, but apparently originally from an article in Dragon Magazine ...

Re: I'm back. Chaos manticore and Mounted combat questions

Always happy to hazard some opinions :) 1. Yep it's a physical missile attack, makes sense for armour to protect against it. 2. Definitely easiest to apply the mounted bonus against everyone and let it cancel out if the opponent also gets it for being mounted. A mounted character might be fighting a...

Re: lycanthropes Ideas

I downloaded Bad Moon Waning, looks interesting. I have a few of these freebie WotC scenarios but was missing that one. There must have been werewolf stuff for the Ravenloft setting too but those I haven't read.

Re: Grenades?

It does look as if grenades were accidentally left off the price list. Looking at the cost of other firearms maybe 10-15gp is in line? I don't think a homemade one would do quite as much damage, "small spiked metal or ceramic container" sounds custom made for purpose. Yeah agree, 10-20gp for a weapo...

Re: lycanthropes Ideas

The whole Children of The Moon idea is an interesting one, I can definitely see religious cults and secret societies developing around werecreatures. Looking at the various RPGs I have lying around they either have lycanthropy being a disease transmitted by bites or a genetic trait passed on to your...

Ah okay I missed Snow Witch back in the day, although I now have it for my tablet. I'll have to finish it to read about the mask now :)

Re: The Well - alternative adventure

Google Translate seems to cope with this well enough to be understandable. Definitely an improvement, the version in the rulebook is very random although good enough for what it's for. Leprechauns, noooo anything but the leprechauns! (runs away screaming)

Re: Adventure advice

No problem, his maps are great I have thoroughly looted that Dyson's Dodecahedron website now and what amazes me is the sheer number of maps he's done. There's 25 he's put up an adventure for but 100s with just the map! People who want to write an adventure but can't come up with an idea could do a...

Re: PDF

Having had a look at the quickstart again now, yeah it just covers what you need to try the game with pregenerated characters. Which is fair enough as... that's what it's for. I can see a place for a thin players book that just has char gen and a bit of "common knowledge" world info, and maybe it wo...

Re: Agran Death Mask

Interesting, I'd read about mask magic in the story of Nicodemus and the Death Spell in the Titan book but wasn't aware it had made an appearance in any of the gamebooks. I wonder if it appears in any of the others?

Re: PDF

Yeah I don't see why the players even need a copy of the rulebook to play. I don't think it's good for players to have all the rules to study, it just encourages minimaxing and rules-lawyering. It's better they leave the mechanics to the Director, trust them to be fair and focus on roleplaying their...

Re: Variatons to monsters

Never hurts to give the players a few surprises. It also sort of raises the question of how much access to the monster books is it good for players to have. Not that you can necessarily control it anyway, but I wouldn't have it sitting on the table for them to refer to in game. The Dyson's Dodecahed...

Re: Adventure advice

I found some D&D scenarios online two of them look perfect and easy to convert with little effort, Goblin Gully & Lair of the Spider Flayers. Thanks for pointing that site out. There's a good variety of scenarios and although most are light on plot they're small enough you can use them as a locatio...
