Re: Anyone up for playing an online one-shot?

Actually, one thing that might be helpful to anyone who would like to get an invitation to the game, would be to list your location and time zone in GMT (Greenwich Mean Time), so we have an idea of our time spread. Anyone who doesn't know theirs can type in their city and find it. http://www.timeand...

Re: Anyone up for playing an online one-shot?

Sorry, I think it'll end up being September, as I am stuck doing some business travel for a little bit yet. On the plus side, I scribbled down some little details and area descriptions the other day and have pulled a bunch of images off the net that I will likely flash up during chat play for the pl...

Re: Your thoughts on FF books as AFF adventures

I think you're putting too much effort into fitting the square peg in a round hole regarding the adventure. Let's say you chose Firetop mountain to run, simply copy out, or post-it note elements you want to use and run the adventure this way: 1.) Print a mapped out version of FF1 online, there are a...

Re: AFF Playthrough

Thanks for posting! I think the Director did great, and it sounded like a terrific group to game with. They all seemed to have good instincts for when to take over, when to yield to the other players, we're definitely having fun but also had excellent sense of self-regulation to get bogged down in j...

Re: First Post! Lots of thoughts/questions!

dcpchamber- That is really interesting, generation Xerox! And while I can say my early introduction to playing D&D and reading the FF books precipitated a quantum leap forward in my vocabulary, spacial skills, cartography, and project planning abilities, I was certainly without parental encouragemen...

Re: First Post! Lots of thoughts/questions!

Here in Canada we had our fair share of FF books in most bookstores in Toronto in the 80s, but AFF was a scarcity. I got my books by blind luck and never ever managed to find a copy of Allansia, any of the Sorcery! stuff,.

Re: Anyone up for playing an online one-shot?

I have had some stuff keeping me busy and some work travel coming up, but I'll notify everyone who expressed interest on this post. At least it'll give me an opportunity to come up with a couple more one-shots if it goes well and others would like to participate. Likely September.

Allansia, Khul, or The Old World? Other?

Curious to ask which continent, if any, you prefer to or instinctively place your game? For myself, it seems as if the game suggests Allansia (the 'New World?') as a sort of North and South America, The Old World as Europe/Eurasia, and Khul as Africa (Hell, they literally share the name 'The Dark Co...

Re: The Next AFF2e PDF?

Well, TITAN is now out at DriveThruRPG.com. It looks really good. I'm glad that I'm able to get both the hardcopies and a PDF copy. Good times! 8) I'd wager that the next one will either be BEYOND THE PIT or BLACKSAND. Is Titan another unchanged reprint same as OUT OF THE PIT? IS BLACKSAND! A repri...

Out of the Pit conversion for 2E?

Has anyone done an OUT OF THE PIT conversion for 2E? I am wondering if there are any notes on this anywhere in the new 2E books? If not, has anyone done their own that I can use and change my copy? I was surprised to discover it was unchanged from the 1st edition. I would just literally ink in new b...

The magic of racism!

Haha, sorry, couldn't resist! So the rulebook states that Players can assign up to 7 points to their character's MAGIC characteristic, correct? Would this mean that an elf's racial bonus of +1 to MAGIC means that they may only assign 6 points to MAGIC for a beginning total of 7? OR, if I understand ...

Re: Anyone up for playing an online one-shot?

I could be up for that but timezones will be a challenge. You'll be able to find a time that works for both European and American continent players but adding Australia to the mix might be a step too far... I am an insomniac so I am awake across most timezones, just go with the time the group decid...

Re: Anyone up for playing an online one-shot?

Almost certainly going to be a play by chat. Aiming for quick paced, chew up lots of adventure and make sure it's really immersive and all players are involved, not just following a storyline. I am going to put in a lot of prepared text for area / encounter descriptions I can cut and paste in a chat...
