Welcome, I use miniatures and a wipe clean battlemat with either aquares or hexes, with odd bits of paper for waggons etc and occasionally pre printed maps from games such as Hero Quest, Advanced heroquest ( great for dungeons) the D & D boardgame, or other maps I've either drawn or picked up over ...

the problem with the original 4 part adventure being converted is that the enemies have quite an array of different Skill scores which would make combat decidedly risky. (goblins to griffon in the starter, tavern brawl to skeletal T Rex and the fight with fish men elite guards potentially in a room ...

I like the reach weapons idea, it also means that lowly goblins or similar enemies can be a threat by sticking together and using spears, multiple of them can gang up on a single hero and the penalties will make them a threat again (-2 for reach, -1 for each goblin after the first). I dislike the id...

That die-dropping trick is probably my favorite takeaway from the new AFF. Head-smackingly simple, yet profoundly useful. this is amazing! love it so much. normally I craft my dungeons or whatever with a distinct purpose in mind, but this gives me ideas to extend beyond bare bones and as such save ...
