Re: WOFTM session finaly. Further Analysis.

The Warlock is like a guy who owns a big old house and some friends came to stay and never left, then invited some of their friends. Then some other people turned up who'd heard about the place and just invited themselves in. The Warlock has no idea who half the people are living there but as long ...

I would definitely be keen to see material on Notura and/or Marrangha if anyone's up for producing it.
I've started on creating creatures Frankenstein style which fits both Notura and Marrangha.

Re: Tweaks and clarifications to the new AFF rulebook

One way of slowing down advancement is to start the characters off weaker. At the moment, they start off very competent already. How about starting them off right at the beginning of their careers? Start SKILL 2 Start STAMINA 4 Start LUCK 8 Start MAGIC 0 The players can have 5 points to distribute. ...

Create your own monster for fun and profit

Hello all! The Notura talk on the fanzine thread got me thinking about one aspect of Notura - creating monsters, like the shocker. So I made some rules for creating a creature Frankenstein style, by putting body parts together and then using conjuration magic to bring it to life. I'm going to add mo...

Re: Lets get started

I actually wrote a short speculation on what Notura would be like here:

I could expand on it.

Re: Lets get started

Pitch 3: A list of magic items and spells from the containers of Khul and The Old World based on the gamebooks (inspired by an old thread of mine).

I could do 1-2 books at a time.

Re: Mongolia in Titan

Kazan in Khul from Daggers of Darkness is probably the closest. There is a horse tribe and a bandit horde led by a woman who rides two tigers.

Re: Tweaks and clarifications to the new AFF rulebook

Firstly it means that you may well have to complete 2-3 adventures before you can buy an advance as SS's are generally the cheapest advance. This slows down the "feel" of progression a faiw amount. With 50 XP you could learn 2 new special skills (20 XP each), improve a special skill to 2 (40 XP), l...

Re: Lets get started

Pitch 1: I have a large collection of rules for jungles (edited from dungeons) that I can release all at once or a bit at a time depending on how much space there is. I have rules for: Travelling and hazards, shaman spells, poisons and diseases, equipment, jungle ruins dungeon generator, adventure s...

Re: Any plan for à third édition ?

Ooh, here's another one that I haven't tested yet. I've just had the thought. When you do a skill test, you roll 2d6 +1d6 for every point of relevant special skill you have and take the best two d6s. This is a very occasioal mechanic in Fighting Fantasy (like the Fast Hands spell) - it never makes r...

Re: Any plan for à third édition ?

Here's a way of avoiding the absurd skill + special skill scores. Special skills only reduce penalties - they don't provide bonuses. This means that the only way to improve your chances is to increase your SKILL. For example - two heroes with a SKILL of 7 both try to climb an easy slope. One has a C...

Re: The Shattered Amulet adventure

i remember that from Adv Heroquest! colour me very interested. especially the mystic maze part, in the original board game this part was guarded by some magical fireballs which moved around the map and some ratmen assassins IIRC i remember that being the most interesting part of the game sadly, the...

Re: Any plan for à third édition ?

as for low skill high special skill NPC's just don't use the same rules for creating NPC's as PC's. This does mean that Bob the barbarian is likely to be ripped off the Gheed the unscrupulous merchant, but isn't that likely anyway? This reminded me of one of Dr Bargle's vlog posts where instead of ...

Re: Tweaks and clarifications to the new AFF rulebook

If we can't get an AFF OOTP made, how about the rulebook has the rules for 50 common monsters - orcs, goblins, trolls, ogres, red dragons, animals, dinosaurs, zombies, skeletons etc. - and even a few NPCs so that directors can extrapolate from that. As fun as a Vlobad is, it's not going to come up m...
