I agree about the importance of heroes. In that sense Titan is akin to the worlds of Greek and Norse mythology. What I meant was that I like the setting to include places that are more settled, civilised and apparently safer than the ‘wild' lands, even if they only comprise a small part of the whol...

Critical hits to characters with a LUCK score work as listed in the book. Critical hits to other characters (extras, essentially) kill them instantly. That does seem to have something going for it, and solves the things I was worrying about: If you don't want it to be instagibbable, give it LUCK. I...

However, according to the errata thread on these forums: p33 should actually read: A Hero receives 2 MP for every point in the MAGIC characteristic and Magic-Wizardry special skills. So magic-minor doesn't factor into it. Personally I'm still waiting for a more official errata though (I don't count ...

I like to portray Titan as a more settled place, at least on the surface in NW Allansia and the Old World, with sinister undercurrents. The way it's usually presented, as a big lawless and lethal zoo, you would wonder why anyone ever goes outside. Really? Hmm. Now, I portray nearly all settings as ...

Another reason to add this rule is as a small way of balancing warrior-types compared to various magic users. Wizards and Sorcerors have an imposing number of ways of taking someone out of action in a single round or to inflict horrendous amounts of damage. However, there may be a problem with this:...

Chaos should be a background threat, corrupting but not rampaging around in spiky armour. I wholeheartedly agree! That's the way I play it in WFRP as well, actually - there may be Chaos Warriors in spiky armour in the Chaos Wastes - just as there might be chaos spawn and whatnot down in the wastela...

That table looks great! One thought, however: Hull breach - why does the -1 attack stop when the air has run out? Not sure I see the logic behind that particular part of the effect. Also, I would say they take depressurization damage and suffer from suffocation, and then detail that kind of damage e...

A corruption (or rather PURITY) attribute along the same lines as those I have outlined above is a great idea. It should probably work more or less the same way as SANITY. It seems especially suitable for the Titan setting, with its dangerous magic and emphasis on Chaos (which I cannot help but see ...

Instant kills in AFF2?

I've been looking at ways of adding the possibility of instant kills to AFF2. Now, instant kills don't make sense for a lot of high fantasy roleplaying, but for grim and gritty "realistic" settings they have a certain appeal, at least to me. The trouble is that if instant kills are very likely, they...

Sanity, morals and composure for AFF2

I really like the AFF2 system and world. I also really like roleplaying games that aren't only gritty, but also grim, such as WFRP, Call of Cthulu, Trail of Cthulu and so on. AFF2 is already fairly gritty, but to add a more grim aspect to it I want rules for morale, bravery and sanity. For less hero...

I agree that option A in your case is the best, but not mainly for the reasons you stated (although they are good reasons). I'm even more concerned about a situation like this with option B: The spaceship "Our Hero" goes up against ships "Pirate 1" and "Pirate 2". Our Hero has a MANEUVER score of 5....

I'm looking forward to running AFF2 again myself soon, but due to other obligations it will have to wait until late june. Indeed, the system is a gem. Several players wished to see more of it (and we have already begun ironing out houserules), and everyone was impressed with the effortless way it fl...

Took a quick look through those SciFi FF books I have in my posession to see how starship/vehicle combat works. (Note: Some of these books also differentiate Blaster Combat and Hand2Hand combat, to simulate that firing weapons is much more deadly... I think, in AFF2 terms, that you would be better o...
