That is nice. And yet, with all the gamebooks set there, there's enough background and adventure ideas that you're not working in a void.

Thanks for your responses. I guess it's just a question of taste then: I like the idea that missile weapons should be slightly different from melee, and harder to use, in that there is always a minimal threshold to hit, regardless of the target. Everything is always a matter of taste. ;-) That's on...

What you like about Titan

I've seen some comments around this board that people enjoy the Titan setting for various reasons... or that they don't like it, or whatever. What I've always liked is the fact that the various races obviously intermingle a lot. If you're running around Port Blacksand in some of the books and enter ...

Re: Firing missile weapons

As described on p. 59, both combatants make opposed rolls, subject to modifiers for range etc, with the higher roll winning, just as with melee, and if the winner is firing a missile weapon, he/she does damage. What special skills apply? Clearly the Bows or Thrown special skill for a missile firer,...

Four 5/5 goblins with bows and shortswords and a goblin leader (6/6) with shortsword and a good sense of tactics in a very dark and narrow (one man width and a -2 penalty to non-stabbing weapons) corridor complex made a very difficult encounter for my party of hardened adventurers back on saturday. ...

Very good work!

I have the same problem with this as the "official" sheet though: No place to put the priestly powers, with boxes for crossing out the number of times used.

I can believe that getting the prices right AND keeping in with canon would be difficult... hardly any game manages to get prices right. An economic system that feels realistic seems to be one of the things that RPGs have the most difficulty with... The best I've seen is probably that presented in t...

The price lists took flak from my players as well. Though that isn't the first time. Both WFRP2 and D&D4 has taken similar criticism from my players regarding their economic systems. AFF2 actually came out rather well in that comparison - the bartering system and what little the rulebook says about ...

Sounds great fun - well done. I'm surprised they got so far! And I like the idea of the mines, that's a good addition to the Citadel. Yeah - they players introduced that themselves acutally, wanting an alternative to the front gates for entry. They suggested mines, and were willing to roll luck to ...

Actual play report: The Citadel Of Chaos - AFF2-style

Today, I finally ran a game of the new edition of Advanced Fighing Fantasy. I would like to thank Graham and anyone else who was involved in ressurecting this game, because frankly: I haven't had this much fun as a GM for a roleplaying in years. A few minor houserules were used, but really they were...

Well I agree - though I think there's also danger from trying to ensure everything is balanced. True... that way lies 4th ed. ;-) Perhaps a less potent benefit would be a bonus of 1 to resisting poison and disease, reflecting Dwarfs' hardy constitutions. It shouldn't come up too often - and it's th...

Well, my CoC-conversion is now done, and I'll be guiding 4 players (who have never even played the gamebook, I think) through it tomorrow.

Hmm. I feel the reason that worked at all in Sorcery! was that you always got 5 options, and usually more than one were valid spells. That said, I played Sorcery! enough that I remember most of the spellbook anyway. But for a player who has never seen that spellbook before? You're evil. That said, t...
