Those cantrips came just in time. For my upcoming convention game, I have given Nose Block to the sorcerer (just NIFty for him), Imbue to the elven archer (who could probably use it to anchor Burn into flaming arrows) and Variety to the elven wizard chick. Let's see if the players will put them to g...

Summoning in general, of elementals, demons and other creatures, is something to consider in the Companion. There are already Raise Skeleton (with varying costs depending on type) for Wizardry and GOB and YOB for Sorcerers (same Stamina cost, component dependent on creature). Should be fairly easy ...

Re: New minor spells

Nice! New cantrips are always a nice thing to have. Grow plant: This spell makes 1 small plant grow at 1.5 times its normal rate for 6 months. This works once per plant. It has a range of 5m. As that is probably meant as some sort of blessing for entire fields, I'd rather go by area rather than by p...

Don't feel compelled to delay books for the sake of that little series. I first need to draw up concepts for all the countries before I can get down to the dirty business of spells and spell lists (which will be the actual work). Although knowing that, I might alter my plan to handle the nations alp...

If i had unlimited time, i would create a set of spells for each nation! That is actually what I plan to do in the long run, at least for the sorceries that seem fun in concept. However, I will approach that methodically by first deciding the general concept and guidelines behind each national sorc...

If the PCs wish to do it though, maybe to take the lone goblin sentry out before it alerts its friends, then it should still be possible. I would suggest that if you succeed on a stealth roll, then you can do double damage, and that's maximised if the target is not in combat at the time. That is ac...

A certain Britishness/Europeanness is indeed one of the distinguishing features of FF, although mostly in detail (such as lattice houses or cider). Power distribution in FF is very different to D&D. A beginning hero is capable of single-handly slaying a troll, giant or hydra ( or a dragon for that m...

I don't think that a wildly escalating level-based system like D&D can be directly converted into a relatively narrow and simulative system like Fighting Fantasy, where cannon fodder ends up at 4-6 Skill, while even such biggies as Dragons and Giants hardly go beyond Skill 12. It's best just to roug...

That would make casting cantrips a better defense maneuvre than the actual defense maneuvre (as MAGIC+Magic-Minor is probably much stronger than SKILL+Weapon), and that at virtually no costs.

I'd use separate rolls for several reasons: 1.) Critical success/failure: If you re-use the roll when the wizard rolls a double-6 or double-1, you introduce the concept "when it rains, it pours". Can be especially awkward when you don't use the Alternative Unopposed Roll system, as in that case a fu...

Solution maps for FF books can be found here: http://outspaced.fightingfantasy.org/PDFs/FF_Solution_Maps.pdf --- There are today tons of generic dungeoncrawls under the umbrella of the old-school renaissance, and mostly for free or dirt-cheap. They are mostly written for AD&D1E and older, or respect...
