[House Rule] Capping 'effective SKILL'

I've thought for some time about the suitability of AFF2e for long term campaigns. Our adventures through the Crown of Kings taught me that PCs could end up very quickly end up outstripping the power level of Titan (mechanised in Out of the Pit in the form of SKILL ratings for monsters), moving them...

Re: Difficulty in recovering skill and luck discussion.

I think that your final paragraph is key. STAMINA is pretty easy to recover, really, and as STAMINA is whittled away there is no effect on capability. AFF doesn't have a 'gory wound' table to simulate the toll of combat, so 'critical hits' reducing SKILL provide an abstraction for this. I have narra...

Re: Talents from Dead of Night

In Knights of Doom (#56) you also play a Templar. In KoD YOU are from Ruddlestone rather than Gallantria, but given the fact that they are both northern Old World kingdoms we might presume some similarity. The list of special skills/talents is a bit broader, as I remember, having a 'warrior' and a '...

Re: Your House Rules

I would certainly incline towards making it hard for the Heroes' stats to increase - probably even harder than in the core rules. In my character advancement should come via special skill improvement (and magic). GMing our group through Crown of Kings, it is clear that it is quite possible for PC t...

Re: Out of the Pit II - Status

Who will be doing the art on OotPII? Will it be at culled from the books (and I appreciate that there might be copyright issues there), or will there be/has there been new art commissioned?

Re: Lord Azzur's Palace

Outstanding. Release a Titan sketchbook and I'll throw money at you. In the street. Notes only, I promise. A book (well, a .pdf) of illustrations for 'at the table' use is something that I've thought would be very useful. So many gaming products have great, atmospheric illustrations, but it ...

Re: Doing away with Armor/Weapon rolls

A duel between champions could be more detailed with specific advantages to each weapon, but would be too much for general gameplay. A long time ago, I had considered running a D&D game set in Thyatis, which has a gladiatorial arena. The D&D combat system (without liberal DM fiat) is pretty poor at...

Back on topic:

Graeme, will you be releasing a range of 'tokens' for the AFF2e mass battle rules? If they're anything like the rules in Allansia, this would be a great way of visualising the battle without going down the miniatures and scenery route

In Traveller, advancement is through increasing fame, wealth, and social power - which is why I'm looking forward to the company/domain management rules. But I agree - getting an effective SKILL of 12 or more should be the preserve of legendary heroes - there is nothing on Titan that can match PCs o...

Of the three books on the horizon, this is the one I'm most excited about. It sounds like it'll make AFF2e the grounds for a long campaigns. Can we also see some variant advancement rules to ensure that PCs don't outstrip the (by the book) monsters. Just a few points of SKILL difference is enough to...

Torus: would it be possible to connect the 'scale' of the critical to the Skill of the attacker? My problem with criticals in AFF2e is that everyone, whether a sickly old man with a club, or a fearsome chaos warrior, has a 1in36 chance of scoring a critical. I'm envisaging a system where everyone CA...

I'm not sure why that link is broken, the original post is still there, I think. I'm still bashing away at Hammerstein! In fact, I just published a manifesto, for myself, of the kind of inspiration that I want to take from Titan. http://drbargle.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/titanic-bullet-points.html I do...
