(N) PC Knowledge

Post by Ruffnut » Fri Oct 14, 2016 6:16 am

[*]Since tommorow me and Lorian will be back from Paris we can test an idea about Intel related to special skills. It is epic. More on it after the testing. We are now back and here it is. There are 2 categories, 3 of which are sub ones. First up is general knowledge. This is a combination of your combat, movement and stealth scores, all of which should be boxed seperatley along with a general box. By the way, by box I mean list the total on the back of the adventure sheet. Next up is knowledge. This is all knowledge special skills with magic and religion lore as well. Finally there is magic knowledge. This is all your magic special skills except magic lore totalled up. To test (Opposed or not) a category you may or may not determine a total they have to beat. They then add their skill and half their magic (reversed for magic tests and you can pick whichever one you fancy for knowledge) as well as a 1D6 roll, which has to beat the total or the opponents score. One example of this is a intellect test. Or a combat one for when you show of your skills with every weapon. Below Lorian will post some example D&D archetype sheets we made quickly, as well as their totals.

Thank you!
Personally, the bit where you assign Special Skills is where I'm the worst as a Director. In fact quite often I use house rules that simplify that part...

If you used the system at the top of the page you would get those as the knowledge. We provided the average state for a class.

With minor characteristics I was after characters who had natural advantages and disadvantages. So it's a cornerstone of it those can't change just by spending XP. Then you have special skills for learnt abilities. But that won't appeal to everyone so it's good to have more options.

We have used this system and it is extremely useful.

Stuart I know you like to assign special skills to NPCs so you might like this
He just sits there tapping away all day on a tiny screen. But he tells everyone that he is slaying Orcs.

I like this as it means that you don't have to do as much adding up of skills :)
