I was thinking that if the rule that points for skills need to be half of SKILL is enforced then that forms a problem with languages as you need 4 points in a language skill to be fluent. Since even peasants with a SKILL of 4 are fluent in common, that does not work. However, instead of having a skill for each language, if you want to learn a new language, you have to take it as a talent. Since this seems quite expensive, it also allows knowledge of the culure and history of the people who use that language, giving a +2 bonus with interactions in them and knowledge of what to wear, how to act in other cultures. This bonus could extend to history, geography, barganing and etiquette.
Since there is no one who actually speaks Ancient Allansian then there could be a talent for all Ancient Languages to make up for the lack of interaction bonus.
