The skill and the wit

Postby Robb 1 » Mon Oct 23, 2017 10:06 pm

I am just reading the Robin Hobb Farseer series with Fitz the Assassin and Nighteyes his wolf and was wondering how The wit and the skill would translate into AFF rules Is the skill a form of sorcery or is it nearer to Psionics? and is the wit of similar origin but more primal in nature?

The Wit is looked down on as an unclean base ability used only by animals and degenerates but the skill is viewed as a much more cleaner power and Skill users can join to make a group or coterie to increase power and is used very effectively together or to provide a poolof power for their lord and master .Any thoughts?

Sounds interesting but it probably makes more sense once you've read the books... which I haven't :)

more on Wit and skill

Skill is described as telepathy with unlimited distance as long as the recipient ishuman and also has the skill. It can also be used to influence people and realy powerful users can also create highly convincing illusions to entrap people

the wit is a form of animal telepathy between ahuman and a companio3n animal but can also be used to speak with animals and in extreme cases place the wit users spirit into their companion animal it appears to give full communication and the companions can see smell hear through each other over any distance only one companion animal can be had for a full bond but other animals can be spoken/communicated with any one witj the wit is classed as old blood and are not looked favourably on by other humans and classed as witches or worse an likely to be executed so is kept secret if it is present.

Humans can be both skilled and witted at the same time.

rules wise skill would need a new name so as not to confuse with AFF Skill. not sure wether you would use some type of point or Stamina cost to use or just a roll under appropriate ability with heavy modifiers the more difficult the task . :?:
