Hag Hunt

Post by Lorian » Mon Feb 19, 2018 8:53 pm

This adventure starts in a tavern in Blacksand when an rough grizzled adventurer called Gareth asks the heroes to journey down into the Blacksand sewers to hunt down the hag Greymane and kill her. He says they must bring him a lock of her hair as evidence. He will pay them 2gp each.

This is an adventure I have made

Isn't the reward a bit low? Why risk your life for 2gc?

If you calculate the wages of a hireling it is skill + most appropriate skill in go for most people (with some extra amounts for high stamina, magic etc.). So the average adventurer can get a reasonably good income.

So why would an adventurer take on a job which pays so little? It doesn't even cover inn and meal costs for the day.

Me and Lorian use the Copper Pieces rule where all non magic items have their cost ÷ 10. It makes the game seem more medieval without it becoming much harder
He just sits there tapping away all day on a tiny screen. But he tells everyone that he is slaying Orcs.

Ok, so that is equivalent to 20gc in the original rules which makes more sense.

I'd read people saying divide by 10 for food and lodgings, but not for everything non magical which left it all a bit unbalanced. I like your approach.
