Just picked up the Maelstrom Domesday rules. Very nice indeed. It occurs to me that this may in fact be the perfect system for gaming in Middle-earth, with appropriate extensions for the races & creatures of that world. Wouldn't have to do much to the character generation or Magic rules.
Certainly think it suits the Tolkien setting better than MERP, and I'm not interested in The One Ring. The latter sounds ideal for people who want to recreate rather literally what happens in the books, but that's not really my idea of fun.

Did you make any progress with this?

It would be AMAZING if you did!

He just sits there tapping away all day on a tiny screen. But he tells everyone that he is slaying Orcs.
Re: Maelstrom in Middle-earth
I completely concur. I think that it would be a very good fit. You could incorporate some of the stuff from the Classic Fantasy book (esp the Magic and racial stats). It would be fantastic for a "normal ME folks go adventuring) although it probably would need a fate mechanic or similar as combat can be fairly brutal!
Re: Maelstrom in Middle-earth
I play The One Ring, I played Merp years ago. Would be really keen to see how this goes. ( I dont have Maelstrom Doomsday yet although somewhere I have the original Maelstrom book and liked it when I played it years ago )
