Titan 2

Postby torus » Wed Jun 08, 2011 11:09 am

I'm very interested to know what the plans are for this. Is it primarily going to compile additional information from the other old AFF books, or will there be new material? I guess Steve Luxton's new maps will be there; how about including other maps and material from the FF books?

Much as I like the existing Titan book, I think it would have been improved by more on the kingdoms and city states in Titan and their present day cultures and politics. I was never really taken by all the stuff on Titan's history, which was unsubtle and overly influenced by Games Workshop's Warhammer 'Chaos WAAARGH!' theme.

Also I think it completely missed one of the interesting and unique aspects of Titan, which was that although there are lots of 'generic fantasy' elements, the urban locations such as Blacksand, Kallamehr and Port of Crabs have a lot of things more associated with a seventeenth or eighteenth century setting. These include naval technology, cannon, styles of clothing and building, even (notoriously) muskets. Although this was doubtless because if thd adhoc way in which the setting was created, I think the result is quite appealing, and is perhaps something to pick up on in Titan 2.

Hopefully it should be both. It will update the later canon, but it looks like we will also have some brand new stuff and i always wanted to have some detailed settings. Much like the original book had both the creation myth, the world overview and a goblin cave system and elf village.

Is Titan 2 still on the cards?

Wasn't the plan to instead produce a series of gazetteers that each cover a more limited area, the first being the Old World one?

I think so
He just sits there tapping away all day on a tiny screen. But he tells everyone that he is slaying Orcs.

Not sure when it changed from the first plan to the new one but seems like a good way to go.
