Not such a good one (for me anyway) here:

The reviewer doesn't seme to like the cover, layout, design, introductory adventure or point buy Hero creation....and that is in fact as far as he has got. Still, it is his review and his perogative not to lke something!

From the Sword and Shield review.
Also playing some of the books with a skill of 7 just led to a gruesome and early death. Not fun.
I say keep the building option and suggest it for the solo books too.
I agree that random generation is a hallmark of Fighting Fantasy, but it also leads to a high degree of imbalance between characters and between heroes and monsters, which made enjoyable play impossible for some players (those unlucky ones with skills of 7 who looked on while some smug warrior with a skill of 12 and a sword skill of 16 single handedly chopped up the Elimite army.)Frankly the hallmark of the FF books in my opinion is the random characters generated.

I don't really like the front cover or the example adventures either. But surely the whole point is to use your own imagination and not worry so much about those things. xD I don't know... I just think it's a bit harsh.parkusuk wrote:Not such a good one (for me anyway) here:

I've just posted a more in depth review, pointing out my favourite bits of the book and what I would like to see in future.

This is a very long and detailed review in Italian, covering lots of aspects of the ruleset, including its history and how it has been "modernized" with AFF2e for new players.
