Marpesia and Kalim = Titans India?

Postby RossN » Sat Mar 10, 2012 1:41 pm

Looking at the map in Titan I started to wonder if Marpesia and Kalim are the Titan counterparts to medieval India in the way the Isles of the Dawn are to China and Hachiman is to Japan.

Unless I've missed mentions somewhere the only thing we know about them is that they look mountainous and Marpesia has a big river which both fit India pretty well.

Any thoughts?

It's hard to say. We don't know anything about them apart from their names and their geographical size and placement.

India is an interesting idea, but keep in mind that there is the city of Agra in the south-east of Allansia, which could point to that region being Indian-influenced.

Of course you can make those places whatever way you like since there's nothing in the canon (that I'm aware of anyway). Titan is a big melange of fantasy tropes with some unique elements, and medieval Indian stuff would fit in well I'm sure. Sounds fun - I'd be very interested to hear more.

However I do avoid having real-world cultures too closely mapped onto those in Titan. I dislike Hachiman for that reason. I think it's more interesting if you put things in with a twist.
